Prime Minister Joseph Muscat inaugurated a monument of corruption yesterday, PN MP Marthese Portelli said, referring to the new power station.

She said that government sold Enemalta for €320 million, "and the person who negotiated on behalf of the Chinese, Chang Chen, was also caught with a secret company opened by the Prime Minister's consultant - this time however, in the British Virgin Islands."

She said that the Power station deal established obvious suspicions regarding whether the deal occurred in the best interest of the people. She questioned the deal stating that it was negotiated by Minister Konrad Mizzi "who acquired a company in Panama".

She said that the Prime Minister is confirming the PN's energy policies, given that it boasts about the interconnector and the BWSC.

Turning to the Panama Papers she said that the lack of action by the Prime Minister on alleged corruption, and the Pilatus Bank situation, "in light of the lack of transparency in the energy sector, the Maltese people no longer believe Joseph Muscat. The PN, in government, guarantees that citizens have the opportunity to purchase electricity from wherever it is cheapest.

PN candidate Mark Anthony Sammut also addressed the press conference, and said that according to the Prime Minister, Egrant cannot have an address in Malta. "Hearnville and Tillgate (belonging to Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri respectively) both have the same address.

He also said that the Prime Minister insists the company could not be sold to the Michelle Muscat, "however the document revealed is a Declaration of Trust, and not a document of sale. A Declaration of Trust is a document that states who a company belongs to."

He also argued that a Declaration of Trust does not need to show an ID card number, or a passport number.
