Dangerous pavement in Birkirkara Road, St Julian’s

Tuesday, 25 April 2017, 09:26 Last update: about 8 years ago

A resident of St Julian’s has alerted this newspaper to the dangerous state of the pavement in Birkirkara Road. The pavement was damaged during demolition works and has been left in a sorry state.

“I called the council twice in the past two weeks, and still nothing has been done to ask contractors to at least place some metal planks for people to walk on,” the woman said.

“They said they would send someone to take photos, which sincerely would not solve this problem. I told them can you imagine someone with a baby buggy passing over this rubble? The solution would probably be to go down the pavement, and risking being dragged by a car or bus. So let's try to avoid a serious accident by doing something before it’s too late.”

The resident said these works are expected to take up to a year.
