Gozo hospital will be returned to the Gozitans – Busuttil

Thursday, 27 April 2017, 08:03 Last update: about 8 years ago

The Gozo hospital will be returned to the Gozitans, PN leader Simon Busuttil said in Sannat.

The Gozo Hospital should never have been privatised, more so behind everybodys back, he said during a political activity.

The PN was never in favour of selling the only public hospital in Gozo, especially when one realises that the person who was supposed to be taking care of the hospital has now escaped the islands.

Dr Busuttil said that the government had reached a deal which is costing the country millions of euros paid from peoples taxes. After two years waiting for the contract, this was finally made available with 16 redacted pages. A PN government will investigate the contract and give back the hospital to the Gozitans.

Earlier in his address, Dr Busuttil referred to the currect political crisis the government is facing following revelations that the OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri received kickbacks from Nexia BT's Brian Tonna on sales of passports, allegations Mr Schembri is refuting.

The Prime Minister is directly involved in the crisis. He was the one who went around the world promoting the same of passports with Keith Schembri. "He can threaten with libels as much as he likes. I know what I am saying and I have proof," Dr Busuttil said.

He repeated the call for the PM to resign; the more time passes, the more damage is being caused to Malta. He also reiterated his call for Keith Schembri to be arrested, while the PM should be interrogated by the police. "We are in a serious situation in which the PM should be investigated," he said.
