A 12-year-old girl died on Thursday after she was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Ghajn Dwieli on Wednesday evening.

The girl was injured when two cars were involved in a head-on crash at 9.30pm.

Rescuers from the Civil Protection Department were called to free the girl from the wreckage of one of the cars.

The two drivers and another passenger were also hospitalised but their injuries are not thought to be serious.

The police said that the girl died in hospital this morning.
