Several people are being held in connection with the discovery of weapons, ammunition and drug-related items inside a Sliema garage this afternoon.

The case took place at St Helen Street Sliema, at around 4.30pm. Eyewitnesses said several Rapid Intervention Unit cars were on the scene.

It is understood that police seized a number of sawn-off shotguns, ammunition, knives and drug paraphernalia.
