A 39-year-old man from Valletta was grievously injured after he was hit by a metal object that fell from a scaffold, the police said.

The accident took place at around 10:30am at a hotel construction site in Parisio Street, Sliema. The man was working on the site.

He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. The police are investigating.
