Thursday, 25 May 2017, 07:53 Last update: about 8 years ago

Magistrate Joseph Mifsud (above) yesterday visited the Mintoff residence in Tarxien where Yana Mintoff Bland, the former PM's daughter, was allegedly stabbed by her Romanian partner.

The accused, Gheorghe Popa, who is Ms Mintoff Bland’s former partner, was also present. He was wearing handcuffs.

Daniel Mainwaring, Ms Mintoff Bland’s son, also suffered a stab wound to the leg. The court has been told that Mr Popa stabbed the two during a heated argument and later set the house on fire. The Romanian national had been found hiding in a tree just outside the residence. He had also suffered stab wounds to the chest.
