The European Union is financing 21 investment projects worth €20 million, parliamentary sectary Ian Borg said today.

Borg announced several projects, including one related to the ‘Protection of our environment’; such a project would be focusing in investment in natural and cultural assets, continuing the Operational Program I of 2014-2020. The purpose of such a project is to preserve any natural and cultural heritage found in Malta and Gozo, and to ensure protection and if needed development.

The parliamentary sectary said that the restoration of the Anglican Cathedral of St Paul will be another project. Dr Borg said that such an investment will lead to more visitors and will help the image and heritage of Valetta, in order to continue maintaining its natural and cultural attraction.

The Mtarfa Local Council has also applied for funds in order to restore the Clock tower of Mtarfa, which was built in 1895 by the British forces. The aim of the project will be to restore the tower and to rebuild the interpretation centre which is about the military in Imtarfa and in turn will attract from turists to the area. This project will cost €568,452.

Qormi will be at the focus of another investment project: the first museum of pyrotechnics in Malta. The project will be split between the Pyrotechnics Museum and the Seat society which will serve traditional Maltese food.  The project will cost around €348,586.
