Watch: Muscat claims Mario de Marco and Tonio Fenech 'involved' in a company in Cyprus

Saturday, 27 May 2017, 11:21 Last update: about 8 years ago

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said today that the PN Deputy Leader Mario de Marco and former Minister Tonio Fenech are both involved in a company in Cyprus. Speaking in Qala, the Prime Minister reiterated what he revealed during Xarabank's debate, that the company is owned by de Marco. He now revealed that the same allegation can be said for Tonio Fenech and that he is going to make the documents public online.

Dr de Marco denied that he 'owned' a company in Cyprus. Today, Joseph Muscat chose a slightly different definition, clarifying that de Marco and Fenech 'are involved' in a Cyrpus based company.

"I am not saying that what de Marco did is wrong, but according to Simon Busuttil, owning a company abroad is wrong," Dr Muscat explained.

Dr Muscat criticized the Leader of the Opposition for changing his version on the Cyprus company story. "First thing he did yesterday was that he denied it. Then, earlier today, Simon Busuttil changed his version."

Dr Muscat commented on the report published on The Malta Independent, on the alleged kickbacks taken by Mizzi and Schembri from the LNG tanker, he said the FIAU denied the story. He said that he looked into the sealed FIAU report, and found Beppe Fenech Adami's name linked with fraud on money made through drug trafficking. "Let's see if he will fire Beppe Fenech Adami immediately."

Joseph Muscat warned that at the first opportunity, Simon Busuttil will close down the gas power station and go back to using the heavy fuel oil.

He also referred to the out of court settlement for Shell of €5 million, Simon Busuttil's clients.  Dr Muscat said that Ann Fenech was also involved in the deal. "The public needs to know how much money did Simon Busuttil got," he said.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the public will soon have to make an important decision, whether to move forward, or turn back the clock. He said the public will not be asked to vote on a sealed, dark box. We are an open book, he said.

The PN proposals are not costed; Joseph Muscat said and warned that a PN government will end up under an excessive deficit procedure or simply increase taxes. He said that it is this government, the only assurance that the utility bills will remain reduced.

Dr Muscat said that Simon Busuttil wants to turn the power station back to the heavy fuel oil. "He loves oil too much, and we will soon get to know why."

Addressing the crowd in Qala, Dr Muscat said that the PN proposals on Gozo are as bad as the rest. "Our €10,000 will be given to the companies which invest in Gozo, to those companies investing in teleworking in Gozo."

On the Gozo tunnel, he said that Simon Busuttil cannot be entrusted with this project. "They took 15 years to build a bridge in Cirkewwa, what do you expect to happen with such a big project."

"The only thing that unites the coalition of confusion is their hate against Joseph Muscat," he said. On hunting, he said he is sure Simon Busuttil voted against hunting in the referendum.

Dr Muscat said he is convinced that the Gozitans are in favour of the Gozo hospitals project. "The only one against the project is Simon Busuttil, not the Gozitans," he said.

Jeffrey Pullicini Orlando was the first to address the crowd in Qala. He said that for the last seven years, he has worked with Joseph Muscat. I was the one who presented the private members bill to introduce divorce in Malta, he said. "Joseph Muscat, chose humanity instead of political pragmatism."

He said he led a fight against church and the PN and won with a big margin. Dr Pullicino Orland said that he had spoken about gay marriage, but was attacked with vicious attacks. "Suddenly Simon Busuttil is saying he is in favour of gay marriage. He abstained from civil union, like humpty dumpty, he stood looking on a wall."

"The Labour Party administration had to stop a year earlier, but we still managed to complete 90% of the manifesto."

He said at first, he was not going to contest because when in the past, he chose to talk about controversial issues, he was viciously attacked. "I did not want my family to get through what they passed from years ago. But I brought before my eyes the attacks on Joseph Muscat and his family."

Dr Pullicino Orlando said that the persons sitting next to Simon Busuttil are the most corrupt individuals ever since the Maltese history is recorded. "If you want speak about corruption, why do you still surround yourself with George Pullicino?"

Dr Pullicino Orlando said he would like to reveal something new regarding BWSC. He is claiming that he has an email showing that Simon Busuttil is requesting a meeting with Joe Mizzi, the BWSC meeting.
