‘Ahna lkoll Malta' is 'reminder of unity and reconciliation that we want for our people' - PM

“This book must not be just an album of memories; it also has to be a reminder of the unity and reconciliation that we want for our people while it works for the prosperity which awaits its country. For this reason, the title is much appropriate: We are all Malta,” Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said when Jessica Sultana presented him with the book Aħna Lkoll Malta (We Are All Malta) at the Auberge de Castille earlier today. The book, published by SKS Publishers, is a photographic sort of gedenkschrift, or memoir, which records the five weeks, day by day, of the Labour Party’s 2017 electoral campaign.

“We can look back with a certain pleasure at the five weeks of the campaign trail, not so much because the national movement emerged from it successful, but moreover because, amid much and much aggravation, we always remained positive. At one moment during the campaign trail, a lady came up to me and, with her eyes fixed in mine, told me in earnest, ‘Joseph, do not let this moment be forgotten, I ask of you! Though it may be a moment of anguish, after all is said and done we’ll remember it as a sweet hour of trial!’. These words impressed me very much, and I think that this book is not going to allow that sweet hour of trial be forgotten.”

The book Aħna Lkoll Malta has a Foreword by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, and includes, for each day of the campaign trail, statements of belief, and quotes from thinkers, of the leftist political persuation. The production of the publication was headed by Joe Borg, was edited by Jessica Sultana, designed by Kevin Barun of Branded Juice Design Studio, and contains beautiful photography by Joe Camenzuli and drone images by Carden Mizzi. The cover shows a beautiful photo of the Prime Minister by Gareth Degiorgio.
