Giving back to the community

'Tis the season to think pink now more than ever before!

In the various fund-raising and charity events held across Malta recently, one company that caught my eye in its efforts to give back to children's cancer organisations has been MBR Publication Ltd, publishers of some of Malta's premier business publications - including the Malta Business Review, The Accountant and MAINSAIL.

In addition, MBR Publications Ltd is also at the forefront of MICE and gala award event organisations, having pioneered Malta's Best Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for the past seven years, Malta's Best in Business Awards, Malta International Boats & Yachting Awards and Malta's iGaming Excellence Awards. These prestigious and highly successful events have made the MBR logo and brand a household name of respect, earning them kudos and a strong reputation for organising some of the biggest gala award shows ever hosted in Malta by a local company.

Not only does it go above and beyond what we may predictably see in action during the forthcoming month of July, I chose this company mainly because it hit the closest to home in the lives of everyday people by what it does and how it does it! From what we wear to what we eat and even to how we travel and check our Facebook statuses, one cannot help but be impressed by how it gives back to the community - and continually keeps on giving.

"In 2014, we coloured one of our corporate events pink to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Foundation Malta. In 2015, we added the Community Chest Fund and HE Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta's signature on the award certification in recognition of her dedication to helping children and patients suffering from cancer," said MBR Publications Ltd managing director Martin Vella.

Since then, MBR Publications has not looked back. There is something about adding a little pop of pink to your wardrobe that makes you stand out and in the last year, the company has joined Puttinu Cares in encouraging that we 'live in pink' with its flagship publication the Malta Business Review adding the pink colour fund-raising campaign. E News anchor and breast cancer survivor Giuliana Rancic has been the role model for the company, and with each collection the company has been able to collect from each of their gala awards they added a 25 per cent bonus to the amount collected by donation.

Recently, the company organised Malta's iGaming Excellence Awards and collected a sum of money, topped by 25 per cent from the companies' proceeds from the event. At the end of May, following the event, Martin Vella went to visit the Rainbow Ward at the Oncology Centre in Mater Dei Hospital with a cheque for €1,500 which he handed to Rennie Zerafa and Angele Cuschieri of Puttinu Cares.

Mr Vella said that MBR Publications will continue to offer its support to Puttinu Cares. "The company and its employees firmly believe in the cause of Puttinu Cares and we are confident that through the development and inclusion of our new mobile application, the general public will be able to get closer to Puttinu Cares and better understand its important role in our society."

MBR Publications supplements its donation by additional funds raised throughout this year as a result of various other activities organised by the company. For the past five years, it has been supporting other organisations such as L-Istrina and the Malta Community Chest Fund.
