PL St Julian's local councillors walk out of meeting due to mayor’s ‘disparaging remarks’

The Labour Party has said that PL St Julian's local councillors had to leave a meeting that occurred on 19 June, after Mayor Guido Dallo allegedly made disparaging remarks.

"These words were said after a discussion on a decision taken in the previous meeting, where it was decided that those establishments in St Julian's that deposited €100 for a feast that occurred last March, be given back their funds after they followed all conditions imposed on them by the Council.

It was here, that Mayor Dalli allegedly used disparaging words against objections made by the PL councillors, "as he did not want to respect the conditions of the agreement, and arrogantly made degrading comments."

"The guarantee was that the establishments had to clear their area after the feast. Mayor Dalli again brought up this question so that these establishments won't be given back their funds, when the council had already approved that they should be given back the funds they are due in a previous meeting."

The PL said that Guido Dalli was reported to the Governance Board and the Department of Local Councils, and that the PL councillors were not left any other option but to leave the meeting.

The PL noted that this was the third time the PL councillors had to leave a meeting since Dalli was appointed.
