Thursday, 22 June 2017, 18:50 Last update: about 8 years ago

Finance Minister Edward Scicluna and EU Affairs Minister Helena Dalli have both submitted their Labour Party Deputy Leadership nominations today.

Health Minister Chris Fearne yesterday also submitted his nomination for next month's Labour Party deputy leadership contest.

This newsroom had last Sunday revealed that these would be the nominees.

The Labour Party will be electing its new deputy leader for parliamentary affairs on 14 or 15 July.

The winner will be replacing Louis Grech, who has chosen not to contest the past election and is therefore no longer an MP. The winner will also take over the role of Deputy Prime Minister.

The party is also receiving nominations for positions in the party's administration - president, vice-president, organisational secretary and international secretary.
