A 72-year-old woman was grievously injured this morning when she was hit by a car in Mqabba. The victim hails from the same locality. 

The accident took place at around 8:20am in Triq is-Sejba, the police said. 

The woman was hit by a Volkswagen Golf that was being driven by a 25-year-old woman from Siggiewi. 

The elderly woman was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. 

The police are investigating.
