St Julian's PN councillors deny allegations made by PL over ‘offensive remarks’ by mayor

The St Julian's Local council has denied the allegations made by the Labour Party's council members regarding a council meeting which ended up in the PL members to leave the room because of offensive remarks by Mayor Guido Dalli.

In a statement, the PN said that the destructive behaviour of the PL council members confirms that the only interest for them is not the residents in the locality, but their own personal agendas and to disrupt the council's workings.

"For the third time in the last year, the PL council members have left the meeting room simply because they lost an argument. This is a clear sign that these PL members do not care on what is being said in the meetings and do not care about the residents."

This last meeting which saw PL council members storming out of the room was about the clean-up related to St Patricks celebrations. The theme in question revolved around the €3,300 the Council uses to carry out the clean-up and the €100 which each bar gives to the council as contribution. The council wanted to use this extra €100 for the clean-up works.

"When the local councillors of the Labour Party disagreed, they came up with false declarations saying that the mayor made offensive remarks towards them". The PN explained that the PL members left the room when the mayor highlighted a mistake in the minutes taken during the last council meeting.

"Those who only wish to spread false statements and who do not have the interest of the residents at heart should not be part of the council," the statement concluded.
