As MPs walked down Republic street into Parliament, they were greeted by a large banner dropped from the roof of the building opposite, in what appeared to be a protest against corruption.
Today marks the official State opening of Parliament.
The banner featured the face of Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi, who was at the centre of the Panama Papers scandal last legislature, after it was found that he had acquired a company in Panama.
Written on the banner were the following phrases: "prison not Parliament", "korrott" and "hasil tal-kabinet mhux ta' flus".
The banner itself was not there for long and was quickly taken down, however at this stage it is unclear by whom.
