A 42-year-old Englishman is in critical condition after he was found lying unconscious in a pool of blood inside his residence in Gzira.

The man was found at around 3:30pm in the apartment in Gzira Road.

The Civil Protection Department was called to assist since the man could not be wheeled out on a stretcher.

He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

An inquiry has been launched.
