Tourists terminating holiday early because of construction works in Xlendi

Thursday, 6 July 2017, 12:19 Last update: about 8 years ago

The Gozo Tourism Association said that tourists on holiday in Gozo are terminating their holiday early because of the inconvenience caused by excavation works in the area.

In a statement, the association referred to the Summer Break Time notice issued recently, which prohibites excavation and demolition works at constructions sites, within designated tourism areas,  during the summer months.

In this respect, the Gozo Tourism Association said it is receiving complaints from a number of its members, stating that inspite of the aforementioned notice, excavation works are still being carried out in the heart of the  Xlendi resort.

Although reports were filed with the competent Authorities, these works are still going on. Consequently,  tourists staying in the neighbouring accommodation units are leaving their respective accommodation, and terminating abruptly their holiday.

The Gozo Tourism Association called on the concerned authorities to enforce and apply the Summer Break Time directive,  in order to cut the nuisance and inconveniences to tourists and accommodation owners.
