Champions League qualifying round: Another three-goal defeat eliminates Hibernians

Local champions Hibernians were yesterday again beaten 3-0 by Austria’s Salzburg and were thus eliminated 0-6 on aggregate.

Salzburg were practically sure of qualification after their easy victory in Corradino last week, and put their minds completely at rest with two qucik goals inside the opening twenty minutes of yesterday’s return leg.

Rzatkowski put Salzburg ahead on eleven minutes and Gulbrandsen added another one eight minutes later.

Hibernians suffered the third goal five minutes from time through substitute Haidara.

Salzburg will now face Croatia’s Rijeka in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
