A pedestrian was seriously injured after he was hit by a van which, in turn, had been hit be another vehicle, the police said.

The accident happened in San Bastjan Street, Qormi, at 6.40am.

A Kia Avella driven by a 69-year-old of Qormi crashed into a stationary Isuzu Elf van, which was jolted onto the pedestrian, who was standing in front of it.

The 68-year-old pedestrian, resident of Hamrun, was taken to hospital for treatment.
