Alex Perici Calascione did not commit himself in favour or against the legalisation of marijuana, as suggested by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

Interviewed by The Malta Independent online editor Stephen Calleja on INDEPTH, the contender for the PN leadership said that there has to be a strong, deep debate on the issue, involving experts, before a decision is taken.

He said there are people who use marijuana and this did not change their life; there are others however who were negatively affected by its use.

 

These issues should not be turned into a political football, he said. “We are talking about people’s lives,” he said.
