Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana has announced the creation of new intervention teams, who would monitor beaches and tourism zones, keeping them clean.

"One of the Gozo Ministry's priorities is to have a continuous campaign focussed on keeping Gozo clean, and this is why we are taking a number of initiatives to raise awareness and increase services to keep Gozo clean," the minister said.

The idea is to have an organised team to rapidly intervene and provide constant monitoring to ensure more cleanliness, she said.

The teams will be made up of government workers, and will be given the necessary apparatus to intervene on site as soon as the need arises, or when complaints are received. Workers will have uniforms and vehicle so that they could be identified.

A Freephone number (80075556) has been setup so that the public can put forward their complaints. The public can also email [email protected]
