"Colpo grosso per la Roma, preso l'attaccante Stevie Camilleri" - This is how the official website of Italian Serie A2 waterpolo club A.S. Roma Nuoto titled the breaking news of the move of the Malta national waterpolo team captain to the Italian side.

The Malta Independent caught up with Camilleri about about this new turn in his illustrious carreer.

"I'm happy to be joing Roma Nuoto. They are a very important club with a very strong academy. They are amongst the best in Italy in all junior categories. I have recently started coaching at junior levels so I will use this opportunity to learn and gain experience that I could then bring back with me. At senior level they are very ambitious and came very close to promotion to Serie A1 losing out narrowly in the finals in the last two years. I will be replacing Croatian Angelo Setka who won silver at the last Olympics and recently gold in the recent FINA World Championships in Hungary. I have big shoes to fill but I am very motivated and will do my utmost to ensure we reach our target,"  stated Camilleri.
