MaltaPost plans to issue a series of stamps depicting processional statues of the various churches in the Maltese Islands.
The first issue consisting of 10 stamps will depict the 10 statues of the Assumption of Our Lady found in churches in Malta and Gozo.
The stamps of the Assumption will be the first in a series that will form a collection featuring processional statues from various churches around Malta and Gozo. The first issue includes 10 stamps, 10 illustrated cards and 10 envelopes. Clients who order this collection before 30th September will be given a binder free of charge.
The stamps in the first issue of the 'Maltese Festa series' bear a face value of €0.26 each. They were produced at Printex Ltd by the offset process and the issue consists of 1,540,000 stamps. The issue will be sold in sheets of 10 stamps and each stamp measures 31mm by 44mm with a perforation of 13.9 x 14.0 (comb) bearing the Maltese cross watermark. Each sheet measures 182mm by 115mm.
