Partit Demokratiku today urged both the Public Accounts Committee and the Attorney General to investigate Smart City as soon as possible, since this land could be the subject of irreversible land speculation.

This matter should be deemed urgent as apartments are being sold commercially and on plan, the PD said in a statement.. Rather than postponing the matter it is in the interest of the general public that these two independent institutions hold a true investigation of contract breaches. 

PD MPs Godfrey Farrugia and Marlene Farrugia have written ​to the Public Accounts Committee and to the Auditor General on the situation.

Partit Demokratiku also asked the Auditor General to investigate using the powers granted to him by the Constitution.
