With each 'upgrading' at the Stock Exchange, the small man seems worse off. Not so long ago it was easy to read the selling/buying prices and amounts of shares on offer in print. This has changed. Now the 'index' will show, I would say artificially, that it is getting fatter, on the mistaken assumption as per the press release issued, that all dividends would be reinvested in the Stock Exchange! Funds might do that but not the ordinary shareholder who has to wait six months to a year, at times three years, for a dividend payment to be able to go on a tour abroad, pay for a surprise anniversay party or whatever.
