Sister of woman killed in traffic accident yesterday died the same way in 1993

The sister of the woman who lost her life in a head-on collision yesterday on a road connecting Mosta to Mgarr died the same way 24-years ago, in the same month.

Janie Turner, a mother of  three, was a passenger in a Perodua Kancil driven by a 41-year-old man of St Paul's Bay was involved in a crash with another vehicle, a Mazda Demio, by a 26-year-old of Santa Lucia on Sunday afternoon.

Her sister, Carmen Turner died at age 17 just a few metres away, right before the roundabout leading to the same road, on 1 August 1993.

Like Janie, Carmen was also a passenger.

Yesterday's traffic accident took place at around 3.15pm. Several ambulances were called on the scene to provide treatment. Both men involved in the accident were taken to hospital, with the Perodua driver suffering from grievous injuries.

Friends posting on Facebook expressed their condolences with the family, while also showing disbelief at the tragedy which occurred.
