Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Protection and Valletta 2018 is keeping in close contact with various mayors across the island in order to ensure that  proper cleanliness standards are being maintained.

Given the need for a clear definition of the different services offered by the Cleansing Directorate around Malta, the Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Protection and Valletta 2018 Deo Debattista and Żebbuġ Mayor Sarah Agius addressed a press conference held in Żebbuġ Square, one of many areas in Malta in which the Directorate operates regularly, offering different services including power washes.

Debattista explained how his Secretariat is keeping close contact with different Mayors through weekly meetings in order to meet the different requirements of all localities in Malta. Through these meetings, the Cleansing Directorate has a clear picture on how to adapt to what services are needed for each locality.

Żebbuġ Mayor Sarah Agius explained how the village is benefitting from these services, as well as enforcements the Local Council is imposing on residents to address the excessive waste issue and bulky waste left by market operators.

Amongst services the Directorate offers in Żebbuġ in particular, the most notable are:

·          Cleansing services every Tuesday and Friday (on market days)

·          A power wash in the main square every other Thursday

·          Removal of waste illegally dumped along the village’s periphery

·          Cleansing services in narrow streets around the village.

During the press conference, vehicles used by the Directorate to carry out services in localities were also exhibited and employees of the Directorate were also present.
