A woman and a girl were treated for smoke inhalation after a washroom in a private residence in Zurrieq caught fire, the police said.

The accident happened in Blue Grotto Avenua at 11.30am.

The 37-year-old woman and eight-year-old girl were taken to hospital. The police said the woman’s condition is serious.
