The roof of a clothes shop in Gżira caved in this morning, with shop staff and patrons making a lucky escape.

Police said the incident was reported shortly after 10am but that nobody was injured.

The collapse is believed to have been caused by a number of bricks that were dropped on the roof by a crane.

The shop is part of a larger area where construction works are being carried out.
