The ‘Gloria Making Music Malta International Music Festival’

Between 11 and the 15 October 2017 the fourth edition of 'Gloria', Making Music Malta International Music Festival will be held in Malta under the patronage of the Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government.

The North West Festival Choir under the direction of Dr John Bethell MBE will be performing various choral choruses from Antonio Vivaldi's 'Gloria', Luigi Cherubini's, Gabriel Fauré's and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 'Requiem' mass together with a selection of pieces from Felix Mendelssohn's oratorio 'Elijah' and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's  'Solemn Vespers' concluding with George Frideric Handel's 'Hallelujah' from the Messsiah.

Maltese soprano Stephanie Degiorgio Wismayer and bass Albert Buttigieg will accompany the choir. The festival organist will be Graham Kirkland, the former Head of Music Service for the Isle of Man who will be travelling with the choir.  The festival will be coordinated by Alexis Callus, whom together with John Bethell originated this idea of a festival ten years back.

This event is made possible with the assistance of the Local Councils and the Parishes of Birżebbuġa, Safi and Attard together with the rector of St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral.  Other support was also given from Bio-D natural cleaning products and Spherical design.

 

Concerts will be held as follows:

11 October at 7.15pm - Birżebbuġa, Parish Church

12 October 2017 at 7.15pm -Safi, Parish Church

13 October 2017 at 7.15pm - Attard, Parish Church

15 October 2017 at 11am - Valletta, St Paul's Pro-Cathedral
