Italian World Cup winner Christian Zaccardo has joined Premier Division side Hamrun Spartans, the club announced on its Facebook page.

Zaccardo, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, played 17 times for Italy between 2004 and 2007.

The 35-year-old ended up without at a club at the end of last season and advertised his services on the social media. Hamrun Spartans today reached a deal with him.

Zaccardo played with Bologna between 2000 and 2004, moved to Palermo before joining Wolfsburg for one season in 2008. He returned to Italy with Parma and later joined Milan before playing for Carpi and Vicenza.
