Budget for education increases by €35 million – Education Minister Evarist Bartolo

The budget for the education sector increased by €35 million, Minister Evarist Bartolo said while delivering a press conference in Dingli.

The minister explained that investment in improving services to make the educational experience in schools more inclusive will occurr, while adding that suitable equipment for students who require learning assistance will be introduced.

He spoke og substantial investment in applied and vocational subjects in secondary schools. He mentioned of investment in new workshops and laboratories for nine vocational and applied subjects that will begin to be offered by 2019.

He mentioned the budgetary pledge that will see students pay half of what MATSEC fees were, and that SEC and MATSEC costs for students will be eliminated the following year.

The minister also said that past papers for O-levels and A-levels will, from today, be available for free at https://www.um.edu.mt/matsec/pastpapers
