Updated: Five injured in Zejtun traffic accident

Five people were injured this afternoon in an accident involving two cars in Zejtun, the police said in a statement.

The accident happened in Anton Buttigieg Street at 12.40pm.

The police said that a Volkswagen Passat driven by a Syrian man, aged 21, was involved in collision with a Hyundai i10 driven by a German man, aged 58.

The German, together with a passenger, a German woman aged 51, were both seriously injured and needed the assistance of the Civil Protection Department to be taken out of the wreckage.

The Syrian driver had two other passengers with him; all were taken to hospital with slight injuries.

 

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli is conducting an inquiry.
