President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca called for every effort to be made in the name of unity at a press conference just days prior to ‘The President’s Solidarity Fun Run 2017’.
“This is the time for us to unite as one people to show people that despite our beliefs leaning on one side or the other, we are capable of uniting when it matters and we are capable of doing some good,” she said.
Coleiro Preca thanked representatives from the Labour Party and the Nationalist Party for being present at the conference as both of their presence “sends a strong message”.
She stressed how the fun run also serves to promote exercise and a healthier life style, especially when considering statistics which show that Maltese are generally more inactive than their European counterparts.
The President’s Solidarity Fun Run 2017 will take place this Sunday 19 November from 10am onwards. The run will begin in Rabat, while the walk will begin at various locations including University, Santa Venera and from Paola. Applications to take part are currently open on the www.mccf.store website or may be acquired physically from San Anton Palace, the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation offices Valletta, from BNF Bank and Maltco.
