Three former presidents of the Malta Sports Journalists Association, previously known as the Ghaqda Kittieba Sports, were honoured with a commemorative token as a sign of gratitude for their past work for the association.
The ceremony was held at after a Mass was celebrated by the first association president, Fr Hilary Tagliaferro, during which the names of members who passed away since the association was set up in 1970 were mentoned.
The mass at Omm tal-Parir it-Tajjeb church in Paceville was also a special occasion asit was the first time since the last change of the presidency in May that the association’s past three presidents Fr Hilary Tagliaferro, Henry Calleja and Charles Camenzuli, together with newly-elected president Sandro Micallef, met for a commemorative photo.
After the mass, Fr Hilary Tagliaferro, who served as president between 1970 and 1987, and Henry Calleja, president between 1987 and 2004, were also presented with an official commemorative token as honorary presidents of the Malta Sports Journalists Association. Camenzuli, president between 2004 and 2017, had been presented the memento in an earlier occasion.
