Thursday, 16 November 2017, 18:47 Last update: about 7 years ago

The ŻiguŻajg festival is set to kick off tomorrow and ends on 26 November.

ŻiguŻajg, an international arts festival for children and young people organised by Fondazzjoni Kreattività, features over 150 performances and workshops at various venues by local and international companies.

Details are available at www.ziguzajg.org and tickets may be purchased online or from St James Cavalier's box office (2122 3200).

A number f events are set to take place tomorrow, including a pianist show. "The show is centred on, in, under, and around one of the most magnificent of all musical instruments, the grand piano. accompanying this elegant apparatus is the poised pianist himself. only he is so focused on impressing everyone that, before he realizes it, his show has transformed from the highbrow concert he hoped for into the spectacularly amusing catastrophe that is 'The Pianist'. To salvage his somewhat unsalvageable dignity the pianist draws on his imagination and comes up with some rib-tickling and absurd results. 'The Pianist' mixes classical clowning with contemporary circus to produce a charming piece of comedy about the lure of luxury."

Tomorrow Pandora's box installation will be open. "Pandora's box. has always been synonymous with something that contains deadly sins. Pandora was warned not to ever open it, however curiosity got the best of her and, once opened, the box unleashed deadly sins which could no longer be contained. In Moveo's rendition, Pandora's box holds people's deepest secrets and rumours almost like today's social media phenomenon. once the lid of the box is open all one's secrets and rumours are unleashed and beyond control. such secrets or rumours extend to people's family issues, identity, self-image and others. once made public, people then react differently: some conform to social norms whereas others try to take control of the situation. However, just like in the original myth, one main element remains contained in the box - Hope, and that is what the protagonists refuse to let go of. Pandora's box is also alive before and after the performance as an interactive installation to be used by the audience."
