There is an urgent need for ‘O’ positive blood supplies, the National Blood Transfusion Centre said in a statement.

The bad weather of the last few days has led to a drop in blood donations which affected the ‘O’ positive reserves.

Since the need for blood for patients suffering from cancer or who underwent operations is on the increase, the centre is appealing for more blood donors.

The centre in Guardamangia is open between 8am and 6pm.
