Minister for Home Affairs Michael Farrugia could not give any new updates on the police investigations into Daphne Caruana Galizia's murder, which took place more than a month ago.
Former PN leader Simon Busuttil asked the Minister to give updates on the case. He also asked whether the minister believed that Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar should address another crime conference. "The last crime conference he addressed wasn't really helpful, to say the least," Busuttil added.
Replying, Minister Farrugia said that the two inquiries were still ongoing and that it would not be right to ask the courts for information.
He referred to the inquiry being led by magistrate Anthony Vella. "I am also informed that the magistrate has access to certain personal items which belonged to Daphne Caruana Galizia."
Simon Busuttil, in a follow up question, clarified that he was not, in any way referring to the court inquiries and that he was referring to the police investigations. Farrugia said that investigations are ongoing and that the local police is being helped by experts from the Netherlands, UK, and Europol.
Asked about a follow-up conference, the Minister said that the police would only hold one when there were updates.
