An elderly man died this afternoon after a tractor toppled over him, the police said.

The accident happened in a field in the area known as Xrobb l-Ghagin, Marsaxlokk, at 1pm.

The police said that the 74-year-old, of Marsaxlokk, was found beneath the tractor. He was certified dead on site.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
