A man was seriously injured on Sunday evening after falling off an electric wheelchair, the police said.

The accident happened in St Andrew’s Road, St Julian’s at 9.45pm.

The 66-year-old of Valletta was found on the street by some passers-by who gave him first assistance, the police said.

He was later taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The police did not say how the accident took place, merely saying that an investigation is ongoing.

Magistrate Marseanne Vella is conducting an inquiry.
