A 28-year-old man from Somalia pleaded guilty to sexually harassing a Maltese woman.

The court heard how Hussen Hassan Abdirahman, who lives in Marsa, harassed and slightly injured a woman on December 10 at a cinema complex in Valletta.

Appearing before magistrate Gabriella Vella, Hassan was also charged with offending public morals, harassment and disturbing public peace. The man pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.

The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to six months in prison. He was also ordered to pay a €300 fine and not to approach the victim.

The prosecution was led by inspector Daryl Borg while Lennox Vella appeared for the accused as legal aid.
