The Malta International Airport recently submitted plans to the Planning Authority for the construction of an over-ground multi-storey car park within the airport perimeter.

The structure, which is situated outside the Development Zone but would take up space which is already used as part of the airport car park, will accommodate 1,396 car parking spaces as well as car rental and carwash facilities.

The development will include the demolition of the police station, however an official spokesperson for Malta International Airport told this newsroom that the police station will then be re-instated within the same building.

“Discussions are ongoing with the relevant stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition for this facility (the police station) within the airport grounds, during and after construction works.”
