A man who two weeks ago was ordered to stay away from his wife was charged with threatening her and insulting her.
The 48-year-old, a gardener, was also accused of making his wife believe violence was to be used against her.
He was also charged with damaging the door of her home and breaching a protection order in her favour issued by another court on 27 November.
In court, Inspector Hubert Cini said that the latest incident happened on Tuesday afternoon when the man went to his wife’s house.
Magistrate Joe Mifsud turned down the request for bail.
“A person being threatened at home is not a private matter but an attack on society, which must not allow couples to resolve their problems through violence,” the magistrate said.
