A number of street benches in Victoria, Gozo, have been repainted with designs of bay leaves in remembrance of murdered journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Photos of the freshly painted benches were posted online by Victoria mayor Samuel Azzopardi. The painted benches are in Triq il-Vajringa.

The words "one voice was silenced, a thousand awoke" are written on one of the benches. They all have bay leaves pained on them. "The ultimate sacrifice for freedom for Malta and Gozo," appear painted on the the bench.

Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered on 16 October in a car bomb in Bidnija.
