A 19-year-old woman from Santa Venera suffered grievous injuries this morning when the car she was travelling in slammed into a crash barrier.

The accident took place at around 3:30am on Mdina Road, Attard.

The car, a Seat Ibiza, was being driven by an 18-year-old man from Rabat. For some unknown reason the man lost control of the car, which then had an impact with a crash barrier.

The driver was uninjured but the woman was taken to Mater Deo Hospital by ambulance.

The police are investigating the case.
