A total of 47 persons were booked by the police on Christmas Eve for traffic infringements, the police said in a statement,

Traffic, Administrative Law Enforcement and Dog Section officers were involved in inspections that were carried out in Bahar ic-Caghaq, Burmarrad, Mosta, Naxxar, St Paul’s Bay, St Julian’s, Pembroke, Paceville, Valletta, Tarxien, Paola, Luqa and Zejtun.

In all, 755 cars were stopped by the police, with eight persons caught driving without a licence, two under the effect if alcohol, 29 without the seat belt and eight making use of handheld devices.
