Over 1,800 vehicles stopped by police, no one caught driving under the influence

Nine people were booked for driving without a valid license last night, and 15 were fined for not wearing a seat belt but none of the 1,832 drivers stopped for an inspection were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, the police said in a statement.

Several police sections were involved in the overnight inspections, including the traffic section, the Administrative Law Enforcement section and the K9 section.

Vehicle control checks were carried out in several locations, including Baħar iċ-Ċaghaq, Burmarrad, Santa Luċija, Għaxaq, l-Senglea, Cospicua, Luqa, Mosta, Naxxar, Iklin, Marsascala, Salini and Paceville.
