A 54-year-old man has been hospitalised after a fight broke out in front of Guardamangia church at about 9.30am this morning, the police said.

An argument ensued between three individuals in Triq Santa Maria, and this turned into a fight, which left one needing to be rushed to hospital, according to the police.

A funeral was being held in the church at the time of the incident but the police were not in a position to confirm that the people involved in the brawl were attending.

It is understood however that the brawl was between members of the same family attending the funeral, with one of them ending up in hospital.

Police investigations are currently underway.
