Government committed to upgrading social, physical, and virtual infrastructure - PM

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today said that the government is committed to achieving significant change in the social, physical and virtual infrastructure in the country.

Pointing towards the Blockchain technology, which has begun to emerge following the the advent of cryptocurrencies, he said that Malta will will be the first country to regulate the sector and revealed that he had already held meetings with foreign investors.

Speaking at a Christmas event for the media, he mentioned the government’s readiness to allow 16-year-olds to vote in the general and European Parliament elections.

He stressed the need for balance between consultation and decision-making.

On infrastructure, the PM said that changes are being made to improve Maltese infrastructure and the road network.

“These are just three of the many changes that will take place,” the PM said, making reference to the controversial bills concerning medical marijuana, its manufacturing in the country and gender equality.
